À propos de Sage Mountain House

One of the high points of anyone's visit to Tortola must be Sage Mountain national park and the rain forest located there. At 1,716 feet it is the highest point in the BVI and Sage Mountain House sits right on the edge of the park. Tropical flora envelops this 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house set on half an acre. The property also benefits from the cooling trade winds and the verdant shade provided throughout the day. An abundance of beautiful flowers frames the panoramic view to the East and South, which includes the sun rising daily over the Caribbean Sea and many of the islands in the BVI archipelago.

The entrance is on the first floor and leads into the open plan living/dining room, kitchen and the separate utility/laundry room. Outside is large tiled covered patio, perfect for outside dining, and a separate office/study. The deck in front runs the length of the property and offers a lovely place to sit. Next to the living room there is a large study/guest bedroom, the half bath with storage cupboards, and the master bedroom with a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom.

Downstairs there are two large double bedrooms and a full bathroom. Steps lead down from the patio to the well maintained and mature garden that has many fruit trees, including a bounty of bananas. A bonus room, with its own entrance from the garden, is large enough to create a studio apartment and is presently used for storage. There is plenty of parking and space for a pool if desired.

This comfortable, airy home affords a serene reprieve from Tortola's busiest towns and beaches. Even the crowing of the islands' ubiquitous roosters at dawn seems many miles away. Early mornings are perfect for yoga on the veranda and the cool mists that encourage the tropical flowers and foliage soon give way to delightfully warm, breeze-filled days that deepen into balmy, star-studded evenings spent happily eating, drinking, and chatting with family and friends on the spacious covered dining terrace. Nights here are cool enough for sleeping snuggled under a comforter! It's convenient traveling by car to the middle of the island making it easy to visit the town, villages or beaches as well as a few secret "off the grid" spots completely devoid of tourists. The house high on Mt. Sage directly adjacent to a National Park with both easy and challenging hiking on trails that loop through a semi-tropical rain-forest that is home to many species of fauna and flora.

Sage Mountain House looks over a flat shelf of lush lawn edged by a garden planted by the owners with tropical flowers and fruit trees. Best of all, this warm and inviting family home is near enough to everything for practical convenience, yet it gives the feeling of a world apart where life is lived in close proximity to nature and beauty.
